A Global Innovation Lab for Equality (aGILE) is a lab and platform designed to support solving complex inequality problems and scaling innovative solutions for impact, from local to global.
Two Tracks
aGILE supports two tracks of initiatives for projects with partners:
New solution or approach to solve
a complex inequality problem
Existing innovative solution or approach to refine and/or scale
Portfolio
At aGILE, we believe in rapid prototyping and iteration with validated ideas receiving support to be scaled to multiple contexts.
Track 1: Co-designing New Solutions
Engaging New Voters in South Africa
In the last two decades, electoral participation among young South Africans has declined due to their disillusionment with the electoral system. In collaboration with Oxfam South Africa, aGILE is testing a social media and arts-based campaign to increase voter engagement among young African voters.
Increasing Migrant Rights in Colombia
The Venezuelan migration crisis has led to an influx of migrants entering Colombia, where they lack access to basic necessities. aGILE, Oxfam Colombia, and local partners are validating solutions that will improve migrants’ access to healthcare and clean water.
Africa Inequality Innovation Challenge
In early 2024, aGILE and Oxfam Africa will launch the Africa Inequality Innovation Challenge, inviting proposals for innovative solutions from Oxfam teams and partners to address Africa's open civil space and agriculture challenges.
Innovating for a resilient Asia
aGILE and the Asia Innovation Incubation Lab are crafting an ecosystem roadmap for Oxfam in Asia. The roadmap will systematically nurture and scale innovative solutions in Asia while fostering a culture of rapid experimentation.
Track 2: Scaling Existing Innovations
Scaling local care policies
The Care Policy Score Card (CPSC) is a tool for enhancing local care policies at subnational and national levels. With Oxfam America's Gender Justice & Inclusion Hub and Oxfam Pilipina, aGILE is testing and scaling the CPSC in the Philippines.
Strengthening natural disaster preparedness
B-READY is an innovation model for strengthening natural disaster preparedness for vulnerable communities. aGILE is supporting the development of new strategic partnerships for B-READY to broaden its global impact.
Strategic Litigation as a Community Tool
In partnership with policy advisors and Oxfam America, aGILE is working to transform strategic litigation from an anomaly at Oxfam into a routinely used tool for supporting the communities we serve.
