Reylan Cook, originally from Greenville, South Carolina, is a second-year Masters of Public Policy student at Duke University Sanford School of Public Policy. She brings a rich academic foundation to her studies, having completed her undergraduate education at the University of South Carolina, where she majored in Public Health and African American Studies. With a deep passion for social and health policy, Reylan is dedicated to making a positive impact in these crucial areas. Prior to her current academic pursuit, she served as an AmeriCorps VISTA member, focusing on combating food insecurity and expanding access to basic needs resources for vulnerable communities. This hands-on experience further solidified her commitment to addressing societal challenges through policy and legal frameworks. In the Sanford community, Reylan serves as Second Year Representative on Student Council, Vice President of Policy in Living Color and as a graduate assistant with the Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging. In the summer of 2024, Reylan served as the USDP Environmental Justice intern focusing her learning around Justice40 initiatives and how to connect partner organizations in Georgia, Mississippi, Louisiana and North Carolina to these resources.

In her free time, Reylan enjoys exploring the great outdoors through hiking, as well as immersing herself in the cultural world by visiting museums and art exhibits. She has a taste for culinary adventures and loves trying new restaurants and baking. Reylan’s creativity shines through various artistic pursuits, contributing to her well-rounded approach to life and problem-solving. Her dedication to public service and advocacy, coupled with her diverse interests, makes her a promising advocate for positive change.
