Budget resolution ‘rubber stamps the Trump-Musk administration’s inequality agenda’ — Oxfam

By

In response to today’s vote in the House adopting a budget resolution for Congress, Rebecca Riddell, Oxfam America’s Senior Policy Lead for Economic and Racial Justice said:

“By using deep cuts to Medicaid and SNAP to pay for tax handouts for the ultra-rich, this budget resolution rubber stamps the Trump-Musk administration’s inequality agenda. From gutting crucial agencies that administer critical programs for ordinary people to imposing reckless tariffs that could increase the cost of basic necessities, President Trump seems intent on raising costs for workers and families to pay for more tax breaks for himself and his fellow billionaires. Instead of standing up to executive overreach, Congress has given the green light to a massive redistribution of wealth from ordinary people to the ultra-rich.

“The fight to stop this outrageous wealth transfer is not over. While this vote allows the legislative process to start, the American people can continue mobilizing to block these tax breaks to billionaires and protect the safety net. Now is the time to fight for a more equal tax system, one that benefits everyone, not just the wealthiest.”
