In response to the district court's decision to grant a stay of the Biden administration's Title 42 expulsions of families, Oxfam America's Global Policy Lead, Noah Gottschalk, made the following statement:
"This decision validates what we already know: Title 42 is an illegal and immoral policy based on xenophobia, not science. The court's ruling today makes it clear that the expulsions of vulnerable families into harm's way will not stand.
"We are proud to have worked with our fellow co-counsel and the plaintiffs to seek justice for so many people living in precarious and dangerous situations.
"While this decision grants an important, albeit temporary, reprieve for families coming to the border in search of safety and refuge, it is not a final end to Title 42. We hope that the government urgently reads the writing on the wall and brings an end to this harmful policy once and for all."
