Ruling in USAID lawsuit 'underscores that the administration’s actions to dismantle USAID are illegal’ – Oxfam America

By

In reaction to Judge Chuang issuing a preliminary injunction against the Trump administration’s attempts to close down USAID, Oxfam America President and CEO Abby Maxman said:

“Today's preliminary injunction, prohibiting the Trump administration from taking any action relating to the shutdown of USAID, further underscores that the administration’s actions to dismantle USAID are illegal, and according to Judge Chuang’s ruling, likely unconstitutional. It is a welcome reprieve to the staffers who have dedicated their careers to serving communities in crisis across the world, but more is needed to stop the administration’s illegal dismantling of an independent agency. We need all funding and all staff to be fully reinstated immediately so that the vital work that saves lives around the world can go on. The funding freeze and program cuts are already having life or death consequences for millions around the world. We need the Trump administration to abide by the court’s ruling and preserve the rule of law.”
