Senate budget resolution would pave the way for an ‘obscene transfer of wealth’ from ordinary people to the ultra-rich — Oxfam

By

In response to a planned Senate vote adopting a budget resolution, Rebecca Riddell, Oxfam America’s Senior Policy Lead for Economic and Racial Justice said:

“This vote would pave the way for an obscene transfer of wealth, forcing ordinary workers and families to pay for another round of massive handouts for billionaires and large corporations. At its core, this vote is about enabling Congress to enact President Trump and Elon Musk’s self-serving tax agenda — trillions of dollars in giveaways for corporations and the ultra-rich, paid for by cutting access to food and healthcare for working-class families.

“The Senate shouldn’t shred norms and ignore basic math to give a green light to Trump’s oligarchic agenda. Despite false promises to protect Medicaid and other safety-net programs, it appears the administration and Republicans in Congress are moving full steam ahead to extract wealth from everyday people and hand it to the rich and powerful.”
